Will Smoking Hinder Weight Loss

The negative effects of smoking with regard to lung cancer have been well documented, but not so much when it comes to talking about your weight loss efforts in the gym.

The fact of the matter is that smoking has a negative impact on your training big time. It will hinder weight loss results and gains will stall because of the influence it has on the respiratory system.

As a result you will perform at a lower level in the gym. So if you are a smoker you should really consider quitting, back in the day the negative consequences of smoking weren’t known, but nowadays there really is no excuse.

Tips on how to stop smoking

1. Find a reason to quit. It can be your health or for a loved one. It will be easier to go to battle on a crusade.

2. Postpone the next cigarette forever. Tell yourself you will have one later. When later comes, put it off again. Hopefully you wake up one morning and a week will have gone by without a cigarette.

3. Get a money jar. Everyday you don’t buy a pack put $5 in the jar. At the end of the month see how much money you saved.

Remember you are training to be fit and in better health. That includes pushing oxygen throughout your body for recovery and repair after a hard workout.

An aspect is the effect nicotine has on blood pressure. This drug actually increases the blood pressure by increasing heartbeats by 20 - 30% and it also hinders any result in working cardio. So if you are working cardio you cannot work as long as a non-smoker because of the energy you spend with the extra 20 - 30% heartbeats.

Lung capacity is vital for any training I perform whether it is in running sprints or swimming. Expanding my ability to breath better and pushing even more oxygen throughout my body enhances my performance.

This should be your goal also because the ability to use plenty of oxygen through strenuous exercise enables you to work longer also.

In conclusion, if you can break this bad habit, stop drinking soda, and detox your body on a juice diet, you will feel the difference and healthier in no time!
